About Georg   Norén    M.D., Ph.D. Dr. Norén, director and chief of the New England Gamma Knife Center at Rhode Island Hospital, specializes in radiosurgery. He has been doing gamma knife radiosurgery since 1974 and, in fact, pioneered its use to treat a variety of ailments, particularly acoustic neuromas. Other indications for gamma knife treatment include meningiomas, pituitary adenomas, craniopharyngiomas, metastatic brain cancer, and arteriovenous malformations.
