About Adetokunbo   Oyelese    M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Adetokunbo Oyelese earned his M.D. and Ph.D. Degrees cum laude from Yale University School of Medicine in 1997, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor medical society. He completed his residency in Neurosurgery at Stanford University and fellowship training at the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Oyelese is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at Brown Medical School and his research interests lie in understanding repair and plasticity within the central nervous system.

Dr. Oyelese specializes in General Neurosurgery and Spinal Disorders and is the Director of Neurosurgical Trauma and Spinal Disorders at Rhode Island Hospital. His practice includes patients with benign and malignant brain tumors, hydrocephalus as well as trauma of the head and spine. Dr. Oyelese also has a special interest in the management and treatment of pain and dysfunction arising from degenerative diseases of the spine, including spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal deformity, as well as treatment of tumors arising from the spine and spinal cord. His practice offers patients cutting edge surgical techniques such as minimally invasive spine surgery and artificial disc replacement surgery.
