Prakash Sampath, M.D. - Research Interests
Dr. Sampath’s research focuses on novel strategies for treating
malignant brain tumors. He conducts both clinical and basic-science research.
As principal or co-principal investigator on multiple clinical trials
of potential therapies for malignant brain tumors, Dr. Sampath collaborates
with oncologists, radiation oncologists, neuropathologists, and radiosurgeons
to provide state-of-the-art care. Indeed, several of his protocols evaluating
new investigational drugs are unique to Brown. His laboratory studies
concern immunotherapy and gene therapy for malignant brain tumors.
In addition to his brain tumor work, Dr. Sampath is heavily involved
in outcomes research in patients with oncological or degenerative spine
disease. He is pioneering minimally invasive techniques in spinal and
intracranial surgery as well as developing various novel technologies
for spinal surgery.
